ABOUT MEGAN
I’m one of those lucky people who knew early on in my life that I needed to do something that is really fulfilling for my soul. Creating beautiful things has always been a passion of mine and when I used my first SLR film camera freshmen year in college, I was hooked. I found that I could use the camera to get close to people in a way that I hadn’t experienced before. People allowed themselves to be vulnerable and open with me. I loved how I could see beautiful things in every person I photographed and how people saw themselves differently after seeing the photographs we created. In a way, I had been training for this career my whole life and so photography came very natural to me. I spent long, happy days in the dark room and loved all of it. The art of burning and dodging has certainly transformed over the past 20 years but I hold on strong to my traditional education of creating art within the camera itself and with the person in front of me.
I live in Upstate New York with my husband and two young boys - 7 and 4 years old. Before having children, I spent time exploring places like Europe, Japan, Central America, and Canada with an extensive 10 week trip around the United States. I classify myself as a lover of “west coast indie folk” music. I am mindful about the organizations where I donate my work and time. I am honored to be a photographer for The Gold Hope Project, working with families who have a pediatric cancer diagnosis. I give to Saratoga Hospital, Gateway House of Peace, amongst other local organizations that are important to me.
Thank you for taking your time to look through my portfolio. I look forward to working with you and creating great work together!
